Ogier Guernsey raises over £14,000 for Maison Million appeal

Over £14,000 has been raised by staff and partners of Ogier in Guernsey to help fund the building of a much-needed specialist unit in the Island.

Maison de Quetteville has been designed as a care facility for people with Alzheimer’s and Dementia and is being paid for in part by donations to the Maison Million appeal.

The funds provided by Ogier staff will go towards landscaping the garden area at the new centre, which is due for completion later this year.

Each year every Ogier employee has the opportunity to nominate a charity for the law and fiduciary firm to support and the Maison Million appeal was the chosen charity to receive the monies raised last year.

A programme of fund raising activities is organised by the firm’s Charity Action Group, with additional funds being raised through charity events, such as the annual summer ball, dress-down days, Christmas raffles, sales of home-grown produce, cake sales and individual sponsorships. Everyone at Ogier supports the Charity Action Group in some way.  All the funds raised by the staff for the nominated charity over the year are then matched by the partners at Ogier and, last year, this resulted in £14,208 being raised.

The cheque was presented to Paul Le Boutillier, Chairman of Methodist Homes for the Aged (Guernsey) Limited, at the L’Aumone site by Ogier partner Caroline Chan and members of the Ogier Charity Action Group, who were also invited to take a tour of the new premises to see how their funds will be used.

Paul Le Boutillier, a director of the Maison Million Appeal, said “Methodist Homes for the Aged (Guernsey) Limited is delighted to receive this cheque for £14,208 from Ogier. This sum will go towards the construction of the garden for Maison de Quetteville, our new home for Alzheimer/dementia sufferers, which we hope will open in the autumn. An attractive garden is an important part of caring for people suffering from dementia, and our aim is to provide an area where residents will be able to walk and enjoy the interesting features.

We are most grateful to the staff and partners of Ogier who raised this magnificent sum and  acknowledge the hard work and generosity of all who have contributed."
