Ogier Jersey held its first 'Actively Green Day' on Friday, 23 May 2008.
The initiative, organised by Ogier Jersey's Green Committee, was introduced to raise awareness of how each individual can help to offset their carbon footprint and implement more energy efficient processes in their daily routines.
Employees were also encouraged to leave their cars at home and find alternative 'green' modes of transport for the day such as walking, cycling, catch the bus and car-sharing. With a prize being offered for the most innovative journey to work, more adventurous methods included a tandem bicycle, space-hoppers and a wheelbarrow...
Based on the theme 'reduce, reuse, recycle', Ogier employees also held bring and buy sales throughout the day, with all proceeds being raised for the Jersey office's chosen charities for 2008: Family Nursing and the Animal Shelter.
