Ogier, one of the leading providers of offshore legal and fiduciary services, is excited to announce the 2009 race series dates and invites all interested swimmers and runners to mark their calendars and register so that they don’t miss out on what promises to be a great event.
The
Ogier Stroke & Stride, organised by the Cayman Islands Triathlon Association (CITA) has become an anticipated event on the Cayman sporting calendar since its inception 11 years ago. The event is a three-series race, to be held at Sunset House on
Wednesday 12, 19 and
26 August, starting at
5:45 pm. Each race is a swim - run, with the swim building up from a 400 metre to an 800 metre length over the three weeks, each followed by a 2- mile run. The entry fee is $10 per race, or $25 for signing up for all three. Pre-race registration is available on 11th August, 5.00 - 7.30 at Sunset House.
The event attracts a wide range of abilities in the two sports; from those that regularly compete, to those that just want to get out and get some exercise in a fun environment. Both individual and team participation is available and everyone is welcome to race. If you are a solo runner or swimmer who wants to be part of a team but doesn’t have a team member, please email
trimatch@gmail.com and we can put you in touch with a suitable partner with whom to race. And don’t forget you can enter just one or two of the races; it’s not compulsory to do all three.
As well as the incentive to get fit, an added bonus is the opportunity of winning one of the many top quality on-the-spot prizes up for grabs at each race, including a special bank of prizes for team entrants. The 2009 Ogier Stroke & Stride also sees the return of the Charity Challenge whereby participants can win additional prizes by getting sponsorship pledges that will benefit a local charity. This year, the Ogier Child and Family Welfare Committee, which is one of five charitable task forces developed in 2008 to raise funds and awareness in a range of areas, have chosen to donate the monies raised in this event to the
NCVO’ Nadine Andreas Foster Home. Monies donated will enable them to purchase long awaited educational books and CDs for the residents.
To encourage further donations and awareness for the NCVO Ogier is donating two tickets to Miami on Cayman Airways to the individual or team who raises the most money via pledges for the race series. Pledge forms can be downloaded by

jayne.aiken@ogier.com.
The race organisers are committed to running a safe event and in the interests of safety are requiring that the minimum age for participation is 13 years of age and that any junior under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. To this end, family teams are encouraged, in addition to corporate teams.
