2008 Ogier Stroke & Stride Announces Charity Challenge

Article Date - 06/08/2008

Ogier, one of the leading providers of offshore legal and fiduciary services, has partnered with the Cayman Islands Triathlon Association (CITA) to host the 2008 Ogier Stroke & Stride race series.

The event is designed to attract a full spectrum of participants, from the fiercely competitive to those who just want to get some exercise in a fun environment.  Both team and individual participation is encouraged and top quality spot prizes will be up for grabs at each race, with a special roster of prizes available specifically for teams.

A new feature of the event this year is the charitable component which invites participants to collect pledges on behalf of local charities.  Ogier has selected the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre and Cayman Hospice Care as the two featured charities for this event and is working with them to raise funds and provide personal support for specific initiatives.  Each of these organisations will be represented at the Ogier Stroke & Stride and a percentage of proceeds from the entry fees will fund their projects.

To encourage further donations and awareness for its selected charities, Ogier is donating two tickets to Miami on Cayman Airways to the individual or team who raises the most money via pledges for the race series.

The Ogier Stroke & Stride is a three-series race, to be held at Sunset House on Wednesday 13, 20 and 27 August, starting at 5:45 pm.  Each race is a swim - run, with the swim building up from a 400 metre to an 800 metre length over the three weeks, each followed by a 1.5 - 2 mile run.  The entry fee is $10 per race, or $25 for signing up for all three.  Registration for individuals and teams is at Sunset House on Tuesday 12 August from 5.30 – 7.00pm and from 4.45 – 5.30pm on the days of the event.

The race organisers are committed to running a safe event and in the interests of safety are requiring that the minimum age for participation is 13 years of age and that any junior under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult who remains at the venue and/or competes.  To this end, family teams are encouraged, in addition to corporate teams.
