Ogier has announced the appointment of three new partners to the Ogier Group, Simon Schilder, based in the BVI, Caroline Chan, based in Guernsey, and Tim Morgan, based in Jersey.

Simon has been a partner of the BVI legal practice since 2007 and joined Ogier as part of the merger with WSmiths in February 2007. Prior to WSmiths, Simon practised at Lovells in London and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 1998 and was admitted in the High Court of the BVI in 2004. His practice includes investment funds and corporate and commercial matters. Simon has recently advised on the launch of the US$1 billion Middle East North Africa Opportunities Fund for EFG Hermes Asset Management and on the £1.1 billion sale of Fawkes Investments Ltd for the Royal Bank of Scotland plc.

Caroline joined Ogier in 2007 from another local law firm and specialises in investment funds, banking and corporate and commercial work. She has already advised on the establishment of a number of investment funds since joining the firm.  Prior to moving to Guernsey, Caroline practised with Allen & Overy - in their London and Hong Kong offices. She qualified as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 1991, as a Hong Kong Solicitor in 1994 and as an Advocate of the Royal Court of Guernsey in 2003. In addition to becoming a partner of the Ogier Group, Caroline has also become a partner of the Guernsey legal practice.

Tim joined Ogier in 2003 from the investment banking division of Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, having worked in both their London and New York offices and having originally trained in the City with Taylor Wessing. His practice includes investment funds, real estate and corporate and commercial matters.  Recent work includes advising on the first fund authorised under the Jersey listed fund guide as well as a number of the first examples of Jersey cell companies.  Tim was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 1997 and as an Advocate of the Royal Court of Jersey in 2005. In addition to becoming a partner of the Ogier Group, Tim has also become a partner of the Jersey legal practice.

Jonathan White, Chairman of Ogier Group, commented “I am delighted to announce the appointment of three more first-class lawyers to the Ogier Group partnership.  As part of our career progression programme we actively encourage and support our staff to achieve their career aspirations. Simon, Caroline and Tim have all demonstrated the necessary expertise and dedication required of the firm and they will have a valuable contribution to make to the ongoing and future success of the firm.”
