Article Date - 29/06/2010

Ogier Hong Kong achieves top level ranking alongside Maples and Calder Asia and Walkers.

Significantly Ogier Hong Kong is ranked “Highly Recommended’ in the Hong Kong Investment Funds Offshore Law Firm section by PLCWhich Lawyer? Cross-Border Investment Funds Handbook 2010, a multi-jurisdictional guide to investment funds law and recommended investment fund lawyers worldwide.

Duncan Smith and Tim Bridges are listed as recommended lawyers in the Hong Kong chapter. They join the other 11 Ogier partners across the group, including Marcus Leese, who relocated to the Hong Kong office in May.

Duncan Smith, Managing Partner of the Hong Kong office, commented: “Ogier management has as one its benchmarks to being the best the achievement of tier 1 status in every jurisdiction in which it operates.  While nailing this ranking will help us on the marketing side, it is really a tribute to the team which has given everything in carving out a niche in a highly competitive environment where we have effectively gone head to head with well established, highly respected and well supported firms.  I am extremely proud to have our efforts recognised.”

The PLCWhich lawyer? recommendation is an independent and trusted benchmark used by clients when looking to instruct a lawyer outside of their familiar jurisdictions.

PLCWhich lawyer? is regarded worldwide as the essential guide to lawyers and law firms. By providing independently researched market intelligence on lawyers active in core commercial practice areas, PLC Which lawyer? has been tracking the most important trends in the legal profession.

The research is based on three key factors:
· Firm and lawyer track records (via submissions and/or interviews)
· Client feedback (drawn from our regular contact with in-house lawyers and client referees provided by firms)
· Peer review
