Ogier in Jersey and Guernsey have received impressive rankings in the latest edition of The Legal 500. Once again Ogier is the only Jersey law firm to receive first tier ranking in all eight categories covered, and Ogier Guernsey remains a tier one firm for commercial and banking work, and is placed in tier two for their other practice areas.

Quotes in the 2009 edition for Jersey include “top firm”; “rates highly compared to competitors” and Ogier’s “breadth of experience makes a difference when shopping for jurisdictions.”

Ogier in Guernsey was reported as a “leading player” for commercial and banking advice, being recognised as housing a large commercial team and noted for its insolvency capabilities. Similar plaudits were earned by Ogier Guernsey’s investment funds practice with the Legal 500 confirming that “Ogier now has a substantial share of the funds market, and has been advising some innovative clients”. 

Researched annually, the Legal 500 uses various criteria to review the performance of a firm and its practice area teams including: individuals with contacts at, and credibility with, the top clients; in-depth capability beyond star partners; very strong technical ability available for the most complex work; perception in the market; market share; as well as strength, reputation and capacity to handle all client requirements in an area, e.g. international offices / connections.
