Ogier Jersey new appointments 2008

Ogier has begun the year with continued expansion and further senior appointments as part of the Group’s career succession programme.

On 1 February 2008 Nigel Sanders was promoted to Managing Associate within the Litigation group. Mr Sanders is experienced in handling local and multi-jurisdictional disputes arising in areas such as company and commercial, contentious trusts, banking, funds, construction and engineering and insurance.

Simon Mackenzie has been promoted to Associate Director within Ogier Fiduciary Services (Jersey) Limited. Leading the Corporate Services team he is widely experienced in the administration of complex corporate owned offshore structures and sits on the boards of a number of structured finance, fund manager, property holding and trustee companies.

Bruce Scott, Paul Burton, Stephen Ferguson, Nick Williams and Sinead Agnew have been promoted to Senior Associates within the legal practice.

Bruce Scott joined Ogier’s Business & Trust Law Group in 2006 and advises on investment fund, corporate, real estate finance and banking transactions.

Paul Burton has experience and expertise in conducting a wide range of commercial matters and joined Ogier in 2007.

Stephen Ferguson in involved in real estate and investment fund transactions as well as advising on private equity and other general corporate matters.

Nick Williams joined Ogier from Clifford Chance in 2007.  Within the Litigation team, Nick's practice covers a broad range of corporate, financial and regulatory disputes as well as trusts law and alternative dispute resolution. 

Sinead Agnew, also within the Litigation team, focuses largely on trust litigation. She has extensive experience in high value contentious probate disputes, civil fraud and asset-tracing and public law.

Ogier’s new recruits include Jonathan Hughes who joins the Property law Group as a Senior Associate. Jonathan specialises in all areas of commercial property law including development projects, urban regeneration and corporate relocations. He worked for a number of years in both London and Sydney at a top tier international law firm.

Martin Welsh, Senior Associate, has joined the Business and Trust Law Group along with Sean Inggs, Associate.

Martin specialises in international banking, and corporate and commercial transactions. He previously worked in the British Virgin Islands and in London.

Sean Inggs previously worked for Bell Dewar & Hall, one of South Africa’s premier business law firms, where he advised on commercial contracts and various areas of company law.

Ian Jones is a Barrister of England and Wales and has joined the Litigation group as an Associate. Previously, he worked at London firm Peters & Peters and Mourant in Jersey. Ian is presently studying for the local advocacy exams.
