Around 150 delegates attended a seminar hosted by Steve Meiklejohn and Phil Le Cornu of Ogier on 29 January 2008, looking at the recently published changes on domicile, residence and offshore trusts.
The guest speakers, Clare Maurice and Arabella Saker, both partners from Allen & Overy in London, gave an overview of the changes likely to have a major impact upon the structures maintained offshore for UK residents and non-domiciliaries.
As well as giving delegates an overview of the likely amendments to the rules in this area, Clare and Arabella gave the audience the benefit of their thinking in terms of possible future planning with their advice on the essential activities trustees must be currently contemplating or undertaking.
Phil Le Cornu said "It was extremely opportune being able to offer our clients this seminar. The topic is so important, we knew it would get trustees thinking about the issues as early as possible."
