Ogier is set to assist another local student fulfil his career aspirations. William Bodkin, 18, is the latest student to be awarded a bursary from the law and fiduciary firm.

William completed his A levels this year at Elizabeth College in Guernsey, and had previously undertaken a couple of periods of work experience at Ogier, where he gained an insight into the day to day life at a Guernsey law firm.  He is now in his first year studying law at Surrey University.

As well as providing financial support for his university studies, the bursary offers William preferential consideration for work placements during the holidays at Ogier and use of the firm’s library and information services.  His work placements will give him an opportunity to experience the broad range of instructions on which the firm advises and he will be offered guidance and support from the partners and lawyers at the firm.

Amanda Hobart, Senior HR Manager, commented “We realise that students may well base their long-term career choices on their time spent with us.  We aim to give them a good understanding of the broad career opportunities available and are pleased to offer them a stepping stone into the legal profession through our bursary and work experience programmes.  We look forward to welcoming William to Ogier.”

Ogier bursary scheme has been running since 1998 in Guernsey, when the firm established an office there. Since then 17 local students have been granted an Ogier bursary to assist them during their time at university.
