Ogier is nominated Offshore Law Firm of the year finalist by ALB China

Article Date - 29/03/2010

We are pleased to announce that Ogier has been nominated as a finalist for the award category Offshore Law Firm of the Year 2010 by ALB China.

Whilst other law firms downsized in 2009 the Ogier Hong Kong headcount increased with additional Mandarin-speaking associates and legal secretaries, with specific focus on servicing our PRC clients.

Ogier Hong Kong set-up 6 PRC-based or pure China-focused fund managers (with Cayman structures) in 2009. Several other funds were also set-up ready for launch in early 2010.

In all, business increased by 80% for Ogier Hong Kong in 2009, of which PRC-clients made up a large part. With new business lines such as Ogier Private Wealth and Ogier Fiduciary Services, as well as the addition of Guernsey and Jersey services in the Asian time zone, we are anticipating record growth in the China-market in the coming year.

The ALB China Law Awards takes place on 16, April 2010 at the Westin Bund Centre in Shanghai. For the seventh year, ALB China Law Awards 2010 recognises the excellence of China's leading law firms as well as the top deals and dealmakers of 2009.

The past Awards attracted close to 200 of China's senior business leaders including investment bankers, solicitors, in-house counsel, judiciary and CEOs and CFOs who were assembled to celebrate with the winners as they accepted their awards on stage.

Nominations were researched in the months leading up to this important event. Winners remain confidential until the Awards ceremony itself, where announcements are made over a gala black-tie 4 course dinner,  with free flowing fine wines and dramatic entertainment.
