Ogier strengthened its Jersey legal expertise in Asia with the appointment of Jersey Advocate Nathan Powell as a Partner in Ogier’s Hong Kong office. Nathan joins Guernsey Partner Marcus Leese who moved to the region earlier this year to head up Ogier’s Guernsey and Jersey offering in Asia.
The joint Guernsey and Jersey service offering follows on the heels of having acted as Jersey legal adviser to United Company RUSAL Limited, the world's largest aluminium and alumina producer, which was the first ever listing of a Jersey company on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
Marcus Leese commented “We recognised that to provide our clients with the full range of Ogier legal and fiduciary services it was necessary to establish a permanent Guernsey and Jersey presence in Hong Kong. We already advise a number of Asian-based clients from Jersey and Guernsey who have responded very positively and welcome this initiative.”
Ogier’s Hong Kong office has doubled in size in the last twelve months with a staff of nearly 40 people. Ogier is the only offshore law firm offering Jersey, Guernsey, Cayman and BVI legal and fiduciary services in Asia.
