Ogier was named “Niche Firm of the Year” at the Legal Week Awards 2006 held on the 29 November at the Old Billingsgate Market in London.
The accolade, which comes hot on the trail of the firm’s win at the Chambers Global Awards earlier this month, acknowledges the specialist nature of the work undertaken by Ogier in the increasing number of jurisdictions it now operates.
The pending merger with BVI-based WSmiths was mentioned as a key development for the firm.
Comedian Rob Brydon hosted the evening and presented the award which was collected by Ogier partner and head of the firm’s business and trust law group, Clive Chaplin.
The nominations and shortlist were compiled by the editorial team at Legal Week, one of the UK’s leading legal publications.
Chairman of the Ogier Group,
Jonathan White, said: ‘We have only just finished celebrating the Chambers award so winning Niche Firm of the Year on top of that is a fantastic achievement. To receive recognition from a publication like Legal Week for the standard of work we undertake is really a credit to the quality and expertise of people that we have at Ogier.’
This year Ogier has also won “Offshore Firm of the Year” at the Chambers Global Awards, “Offshore Legal Team of the Year” at the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Awards and the Alpha Award for “Top Offshore Law Firm”.
