Ogier Cayman announced today that Ms. Jacqueline Haynes, an articled clerk in the banking and trust section of the firm’s litigation practice, was admitted to the Cayman Islands Bar.
Ms Haynes application was moved by William Jones, Associate, on 18th March before Justice Charles Quin. “Miss. Haynes is a very remarkable young Caymanian woman, with a wealth of experience and we at Ogier feel privileged to have her among us,” said Mr Jones in his remarks in support of Ms Haynes’ application.
Ms Haynes joined Ogier as a legal trainee in 2008 following her tenure with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority as an analyst in the Investment and Securities Division. Her previous work experience included 10 years as an Intelligence Analyst and subsequently a Senior Customs Officer with H.M. Customs of the Cayman Islands Government.
Ms Haynes obtained her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Liverpool in 2008 and her Postgraduate Professional Practice Certificate from the Cayman Islands Law School in 2009. In addition to her formal education, Ms Haynes has completed a wide range of professional development programs from such organisations as the Caribbean Regional Drug Law Enforcement Training Centre, the Customs and Revenue Agency of Canada and the Overseas Territories Regional Criminal Intelligence Office.
A graduate of Cayman Islands High School and the Cayman Islands Community College, Ms Haynes also has been recognised as a poet, having received an Outstanding Achievement in Poetry award from the International Society of Poets.
During her training with Ogier, Ms Haynes has had the opportunity to gain experience in its Litigation, Investment Funds, Banking & Finance and Business and Trust Laws teams. Upon admission, Ms Haynes will remain with the Business and Trust Law team as an associate attorney.
Ms Haynes expressed her sincere gratitude to her lecturers at the Cayman Islands Law School, her parents, Muda and Leaford but most importantly, her daughter Jaida. “My achievements would not have been possible without the support of all of you and I am truly grateful for the continued words of encouragement that have kept me focused.”
Last but not least, she showed her appreciation to many of her colleagues at Ogier, in particular partners Giorgio Subiotto, Colin Mackay, James Bagnall and Chris Russell, and associates Tina Asgarian and Sailaja Alla. She concluded by saying “My experience working with each of these individuals at Ogier has given me every opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience in Cayman’s most significant areas of legal practice.”
