
Kristy has more than twelve years of employment history with extensive corporate and commercial law experience in the Asia Pacific and in particular in China. She previously was Legal Director for Rio Tinto China/Asia for 4 years. Prior to that, she was a senior private practice lawyer at international firms Weil, Gotshal & Manges and Sidley Austin in Asia and Freehills in Australia. Her experience includes M&A, JV, private equity, mining and capital markets transactions as well as broad in-house commercial law experience.
She was also an adviser at the Australian Government Treasury on FTA negotiations with ASEAN countries including China and competition law policies and reforms. She also served on the board of the Australia China Business Council Victoria Division in 2008-2009. Kristy also founded an association for General Counsel for multi-national companies working in the PRC.
She received her Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce from The University of Melbourne in Australia which included a period at the East China University of Politics and Law in Shanghai and is admitted to the High Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of Victoria and the Supreme Court of Australian Capital Territory.
Recently, Kristy was listed in the ALB Hot 100 lawyers in Asia and the ALB Hot 40 Lawyers in Australia and New Zealand. She was also shortlisted for the inaugural Euromoney Legal Media Group Asia Women in Business Law Awards 2011.
Kristy is a native speaker and writer of English, Mandarin and Shanghainese.
