Robert Foote is a Managing Associate and Barrister specialising in all aspects of business and corporate, commercial and insolvency litigation. His practice areas include shareholder/partnership disputes, cross-border commercial litigation, insolvency disputes, malpractice, director disqualification proceedings, director disputes, restructuring and professional negligence claims. He has broad experience of alternative dispute resolution procedures such as mediation and arbitration proceedings. Robert is endorsed as a leading lawyer for Dispute Resolution in PLC Which Lawyer 2011.
Before joining the BVI office in April 2007 he practiced from Barristers’ chambers in London, worked for Freshfields and Dechert in London and worked for a number of regional firms of solicitors in the UK. Robert was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1999.
Robert has an honours degree in Zoology from London and a Master of Laws Degree in International Law from London.
Robert is a director of the Association of Recovery and Insolvency Specialists (RISA), a forum for insolvency professionals to liaise with key stakeholders in the jurisdiction, including the Government, the Financial Services Association and the Judiciary, with the aim of promoting the insolvency profession and the BVI within the worldwide insolvency networks.
Robert is a co-author of the BVI Chapter of 'International Asset Tracing in Insolvency', published by Oxford University Press.
Robert is a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple and is a member of the New York Bar Association.
