Named last year as one of eprivateclient's Top 35 Under 35, Matthew is an experienced private client lawyer in Ogier's Private Client and Trusts team in Jersey. He advises corporate trustees, intermediary organisations and individuals in respect of trusts, pension employee reward schemes, wills, estates and succession planning. In particular, Matthew has expertise in providing technical advice to trustees concerning large, international pension schemes, their members and associated issues under Jersey pensions law and guidance.
Matthew's work in the offshore private client sector has been greatly supported by his firm background as a private client practitioner in the UK where he assisted both individual and corporate clients in all areas of private client law. Prior to joining Ogier in 2016, Matthew spent over two years practising as a solicitor at a top 50 corporate law firm based in Bristol, England. Here he assisted clients with preparing wills, establishing and managing trusts, succession planning and charity law advice.
Matthew received a BSc degree from University College London in Psychology and studied at the Bristol Institute of Legal Practice to obtain his Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course qualifications. Matthew is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales and is both a registered member of the Law Society and affiliate member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
