Brexit's impact on UK real estate – opportunities for the brave or the beginning of the end?
Ogier partner Richard Daggett will discuss the impact of international developments, such as Brexit, on Jersey and the real estate sector at the Ogier-sponsored JIBS 2nd Annual Real Estate & Real Estate Funds Conference in June.
Richard, one of 13 industry experts to offer insights and predictions on the day, will also consider how the Panama Papers changed public perception of offshore jurisdictions and the importance of corporate governance to current issues such as BEPS.
He said: "We are delighted to be working with the Jersey International Business School on this, the definitive Jersey Real Estate & Real Estate Funds event of the year.
"I'll be drawing on Ogier's knowledge from working on the largest and most complex transactions involving real estate in the Channel Islands, the UK and Europe and bringing our first-hand experience of how the global political climate is impacting on trends in the real estate industry and its knock-on effect in Jersey."
Richard is a partner in Ogier’s Jersey corporate team, specialising in private equity structures and complex real estate and corporate finance deals. In the past 12 months he has advised on the biggest UK IPO since the Brexit referendum, the second largest European real estate deal of 2016 and numerous UK commercial property deals including intu’s acquisition of Merry Hill Shopping Centre and the establishment of Paloma Capital’s private placement real estate fund.
He will be joined on 13 June at the Hotel de France by Ogier partner Matthew Shaxson, who joins a panel discussing fiduciary considerations and risk management for real estate professionals.
Matthew has advised on many of the landscape-changing transactions in the Jersey fiduciary sector in recent years.
Ogier is platinum sponsor of JIBS' 2nd Annual Real Estate & Real Estate Funds Conference. Leading members of Ogier's Real Estate team (covering corporate, funds and finance law) will also be attending.
