Experienced Finance lawyer Jacqueline Chan has joined Ogier's Hong Kong team as counsel.
Jacqueline – who has over nine years' experience as a Hong Kong lawyer at Allen & Overy and Ropes & Gray – has joined the team led by partner Anthony Oakes.
Jacqueline has experience in non-contentious restructuring, general banking, and capital markets and derivatives, including a wide range of finance and special situations transactions and bond issues.
Recent notable transactions in which Jacqueline was involved prior to joining Ogier include advising Kaisa Group, a Hong Kong-listed real estate company operating in China, on the restructuring of over US$3 billion in offshore liabilities (named "Restructuring Deal of the Year" for 2017 at the IFLR Asia Awards), and advising the Joint Official Liquidators of LDK Solar Co. Limited.
Her experience also includes a six-month secondment to Standard Chartered Bank as legal support to the financial markets team, covering equity, fixed income and commodity financial products, securitisation and other structured finance transactions.
Jacqueline qualified as a Solicitor in Hong Kong in 2011, and attended the University of Cambridge (MA Law), University of Warwick (BSc Economics) and The University of Hong Kong (PCLL).
Anthony said: "We are delighted that Jacqueline has joined the team. She adds strength and experience to a number of our core practice areas. Her broad finance background, including some major restructurings, definitely adds to our 'bench'.
"Our finance and restructuring teams are growing worldwide, including the recent hire of Marc Kish in Cayman, and we expect that to continue."
