Ogier BVI advises Toys "R" Us on its Global Restructuring

Ogier has advised long-standing client Toys R Us on its voluntary application for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The firm has acted as BVI legal counsel to the international retailer, advising on matters of BVI law relating to its reorganisation and restructuring.

Partner Ray Wearmouth is leading the Ogier team, which includes senior associates Marie-Claire Fudge, Rebecca Clark, Christian Burns Di-Lauro and partner Brian Lacy, advising, in conjunction with lead counsel Kirkland & Ellis LLP on the reorganisation and filings for bankruptcy protection.

Ogier provided BVI legal advice on the matter from both its BVI and Jersey office locations, offering a seamless service despite the disruption caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in the BVI.

Ray said: "We are pleased to have been able to support our long-standing client on this matter.

"We were able to continue to deliver 24-hour support from different offices despite the disruption in the BVI."

Marie-Claire added: "It was a pleasure to work with the Toys and Kirkland teams up to and including the petition meetings and calls themselves, and we look forward to assisting with the DIP financing as things progress."
