Ogier partner Advocate Gavin Ferguson has been sworn in as a Notary Public in Guernsey at the island's Ecclesiastical Court.
Gavin joins fellow partner Advocate Martyn Baudains in being able to offer notarial services to private and institutional clients.
A Guernsey Notary is a qualified advocate of over five years' call who has met certain criteria, including passing a notarial exam.
Notaries are member of one of the oldest branches of the legal profession and have authority greater than that of lawyers when it comes to verifying and authenticating authoritatively certain documents, acts and events to render them acceptable to authorities in foreign jurisdictions.
Gavin joined Ogier earlier this year as the head of the firm's Private Client and Trusts team – he has been a Guernsey Advocate for ten years and is qualified in England & Wales and BVI, and also holds a personal fiduciary license.
Gavin said: "I am pleased to be able to join Martyn in offering this important service to our existing and new clients, and pleased also to be joining the ranks of other senior Advocates who are qualified to practice as notaries."
