William Simpson is head of the firm's Guernsey office. He specialises in investment funds, structured finance, banking, corporate and commercial work, and trusts. Having qualified as an English Barrister he practised in the UK including a spell at Leeds University as an assistant tutor in the law of trusts, followed by a period in the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands before moving to Guernsey in 1991. He became a Guernsey Advocate in 1996 and joined Ogier to head up the Guernsey office in 2002.
William is recognised by industry commentators as a leading specialist in his areas of expertise for Guernsey and featured in the 2010 Edition of “Who’s Who Legal” for private funds lawyers and "Who's Who Legal" for banking lawyers. He was also named in the Guide to the World’s Leading Investment Funds Lawyers, which is part of the Expert Guides series, for 2010. William was recognised as a leading individual for private client work in Guernsey by PLC Which Lawyer? in 2010.
William is a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP).
