Dan is a Jersey Advocate who specialises in contentious employment matters, principally advising employers on a range of issues including claims relating to unfair dismissal, redundancy, senior executive terminations and contractual disputes including arguments over restrictive covenants and confidentiality clauses. He also experience of health and safety, and personal injury arising out of workplace accidents.
He also advises on large scale redundancies, dismissals on grounds of capability and has been active in a number of the first claims to be made under Jersey's discrimination law.
Dan regularly appears before the Jersey Employment and Discrimination Tribunal.
He advises on disputes involving shareholders and partnership agreements, including disputes in respect of partnership exits and restrictive covenants; as well as matters involving terminations, reporting and investigations relating to regulated employees.
Prior to joining Ogier in 2013, Dan was a Barrister at Farrar's Building specialising in employment and personal injury work. He was called to the Bar in England and Wales in 2006, and is a member of the Honourable Society of Gray's Inn.
He graduated from the University of Durham in 2003 with a degree in English Literature, before passing the Graduate Diploma in Law with BPP in 2005. Dan went on to pass the Bar Vocational Course with a grade of Very Competent in 2006.
