Jonathan is a highly experienced lawyer who has been involved in the strategic management of businesses for most of the 30 years in which he has lived in Jersey. He was appointed as Managing Partner of Ogier in 1991 and was instrumental in growing the business across the Channel Islands over the ensuing years.
When he was appointed Chairman of the business in 2002 he led a strategic review which was aimed at converting what was then a leading Channel Island law firm into a business that was a global leader in the provision of offshore legal and fiduciary services. This led to mergers with existing businesses in the Caribbean and office openings in major financial services locations across the globe. Jonathan played a leading role in all of these initiatives.
Jonathan stood down as Executive Chairman of Ogier on 31 January 2009 and as a Partner on 31 July 2009. He remains a consultant of Ogier, an adviser to a number of substantial families and their business (including playing an active role on a number of Boards of operating companies owned by those families) and was previously Chairman of Jersey Finance Limited and Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust. Jonathan is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales and an Advocate of the Royal Court of Jersey. He is a member of The Law Society of England and Wales, The Institute of Directors and STEP.
