Ogier advises on largest employment transfer transaction in the Channel Islands

Deal

31 August 2007

Guernsey, Jersey

ON THIS PAGE

Ogier in Guernsey, in conjunction with Clifford Chance, advised Sandpiper Bidco in the drawing up of 86 employee transfer agreements as a result of the £260 million purchase of C I Traders, the conglomerate that is the biggest corporate employer in the Channel Islands. The group employs a number of staff to run its supermarkets, pubs, hotels and property development operations in both Guernsey and Jersey.

It is the single biggest employment transfer transaction ever seen in the Channel Islands, and required advice on the reviewing of employees terms and conditions, pension issues, staff handbooks and 90 different contracts of employment.  Simon Davies led the employment team on this matter, comprising Jon Barclay, Elaine Gray, Callum McNeil and Cerisse Redstone.  Roger Le Tissier also advised on the corporate aspects of the transaction.
