Ogier advises on the sale of The Guernsey Press

Deal

01 October 2019

Guernsey

Ogier has advised Guiton Media Limited on the sale of The Guernsey Press Company Limited, a company whose business includes the production and distribution of The Guernsey Press (Guernsey's local newspaper) and the wholesale and distribution in Guernsey of national newspapers and magazines.

Working with lead counsel Shakespeare Martineau, a combined Ogier team advised on corporate, property, pensions, competition and employment law matters in relation to the transaction. Led by Partner Bryon Rees, the combined Ogier team included Bryon, Senior Associate James Walsh, Senior Associate Michelle Watson-Bunn and Associate William Schofield advising on the corporate and regulatory matters and Partner Marcus Leese, Senior Associate Chris Hards, Senior Associate Martin Casas and Counsel Rachel Richardson advising in respect of pensions, property and employment aspects respectively.

Bryon commented "For our multi-disciplinary team to advise on the sale of a local Guernsey institution such as the Guernsey Press is especially pleasing.  It was a pleasure to support Guiton in this matter and we wish the Guernsey Press and its new owners all the best."
