Christian, who joined Ogier in 2014, has worked in Ogier's BVI, Cayman and Jersey offices and is the only specialist BVI Banking and Finance partner based in the Channel Islands.
As part of the international firm's Banking and Finance team he represents a wide range of financial institutions and companies on banking, finance and restructuring transactions. With a strong focus on real estate finance, derivative transactions and non-contentious and consensual insolvency and credit restructuring, clients value Christian for his understanding of complex cross-border transactions.
Simon Schilder, who heads Ogier's BVI in Europe team, said: "Christian becomes the second full time BVI partner practising in the non-contentious areas of the wider BVI Europe team at Ogier, supplementing our other BVI Europe partners who split their practices between BVI law and the law of their home jurisdiction. I am very pleased that Christian's promotion recognises the development and growth of our BVI legal practice in Europe and the importance of banking and finance work within this practice."
Ogier's BVI practice partner Ray Wearmouth said: "Christian has worked on many of the BVI's most prominent financings and transactions, ranging from advising Toys "R" Us through its Chapter 11 process, DIP financing and subsequent asset sales when he was based in the BVI office, through to recently advising Bank of America, Citigroup, JP Morgan and others on the US$2 billion London Stock Exchange IPO of Fix Price Group. Being based in our Jersey office allows him to cover BVI matters in the European time zone which is key for our clients in the banking and finance space."
His promotion brings the number of partners at Ogier to 80.
