Four Ogier partners named as IFLR1000 Women Leaders 2022

News

13 April 2022

Jersey, Hong Kong

Four partners from Ogier have been included in an elite ranking of the world's most prominent women lawyers – the IFLR1000's Women Leaders 2022.

Three partners from Ogier in Jersey have been awarded the accolade - the most of any firm in the jurisdiction – and they are global head of Banking and Finance Katrina Edge, head of Investment Funds in Jersey Niamh Lalor and investment funds specialist Emily Haithwaite. On the list for the first time is Ogier's head of ESG (legal), Kate Hodson, from the firm's Hong Kong team.

The 2022 edition is the most comprehensive yet, featuring more than 1,000 female lawyers from around the world working in financial and corporate transactions and contract, licensing and regulatory project work.

The directory has research teams in Hong Kong, London, New York and Sofia and collectively they analyse thousands of research submissions, conduct thousands of interviews with law firm partners, and survey tens of thousands of clients to determine IFLR1000's Women Leaders.

Global Senior Partner Rachael Reynolds QC said: "These four individuals are outstanding lawyers and I’m delighted that their achievements and exceptional talent have been recognised by IFLR1000. Ogier is committed to breaking down barriers for women and other underrepresented groups in progressing to senior levels at the firm, and these accolades reflect that commitment, as well as the hard work of these four lawyers.”

Recognised as an IFLR1000 Women Leader for the second year, Katrina is described in the directory as “highly regarded,” and she was recently described as “at the top of her game” in Chambers UK, 2022. Her practice includes secured lending, fund financing, property financing and restructuring transactions and advising clients on the establishment of real estate holding structures and the acquisition and disposal of such structures.

Niamh is a specialist funds and regulatory lawyer and praised as a “market leader” in the IFLR1000. This is her third consecutive year on the IFLR1000's Women Leaders list. Her practice is focused on private equity, venture capital and infrastructure funds as well as real estate structuring, real estate funds and fund formation.

Emily, who the IFLR1000 also describes as a “market leader,” is a group partner and a part of Ogier's multi-disciplinary Private Equity team. Emily advises a variety of investment fund sponsors on the formation, operation, listing and winding-up of funds (including end of life solutions), as well as investors investing into Jersey funds, and she was also named in the Legal 500 UK, 2022, Hall of Fame. This is her third year recognised as an IFLR1000 Women Leader.

Named a “Rising Star” by IFLR1000, Kate launched Ogier's Sustainable Investment and Impact Funds practice in 2020. Kate advises GPs and fund managers on the establishment and structuring of private equity funds and hedge funds as well as advising LPs on their fund investments, and is one of a small group of offshore lawyers with a significant Japan practice. Kate was recently named in Asia Business Law Journal's prestigious list of Top 50 Offshore Lawyers 2022.
