Ogier Adeem deal wins restructuring award at IFLR

A large international restructuring deal that Ogier worked on has been named Restructuring Deal of the Year in the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) Middle East Awards last night.

The deal involved a bespoke restructuring of the conventional and Sharia-compliant financing arrangements provided to certain subsidiaries of Adeem Investment and Wealth Management, a leading investment and Islamic financial company based in Kuwait.

The deal involved a new corporate structure and security arrangements and enabled the group to utilise certain of its high value assets in order to obtain enhanced funding flexibility.

The Ogier team, led by Partner Bruce MacNeil and Associate Tara O'Driscoll from the firm's Banking and Finance team in Jersey, advised Adeem Investment and Wealth Management and its affiliates on the Jersey law aspects of the deal, alongside Latham & Watkins in Dubai.

The winners of the 2017 IFLR Middle East Awards were announced at the annual dinner at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai on 18 October.
