Ogier was named Best Offshore Law Firm at the prestigious WealthBriefing European Awards 2017 last night.

The firm – which has just welcomed two new partners to its private client and trusts team in Jersey and Guernsey – received the award marking innovation and excellence during 2016 in global private banking, wealth management and trusted adviser communities.

Ogier Global Senior Partner Steve Meiklejohn said that it was gratifying to have been recognised by the independent panel drawn from private banks and trusted advisers who judge the WealthBriefing awards.

And he added that the firm saw opportunities for growth in the private client and trusts sector, having recruited partners James Campbell and Gavin Ferguson to the Jersey and Guernsey teams respectively at the start of the month, following on from the recruitment of partner Anthony Partridge to the Cayman trusts team earlier this year.

Steve said: "This recognition marks the hard work and talent of our European private client and trusts team in Jersey and Guernsey, working in tandem with our outstanding teams in the Caribbean and Hong Kong."

The award was accepted by senior associate Sevyn Kalsi, who attended the award ceremony at the Guildhall in London last night – Sevyn is a member of Ogier's Jersey private client and trusts team who specialises in advising corporate trustees, settlors and beneficiaries on Jersey trust and foundations, and who acts for UHNW individuals and families.

Ogier was also this week nominated in the Offshore Law Firm of the Year category in The Lawyer Awards 2017.

Already this year, the firm was named Law Firm of the Year in both the Jersey and Caribbean categories at the Citywealth IFC Awards, while Global Head of Private Client and Trusts Sally Edwards won the "Leadership Award: Professional Services IFC" and Head of Marketing Kate Kirk won "Woman of the Year: Business Services" at the Power Women Awards.
