Trust and trustee regulatory focus for Ogier partner at STEP Geneva technical event

A cross-jurisdictional comparison of the existing trustee regulation in Guernsey and BVI as against the new proposals for the regulation of trustees in Switzerland will be under the spotlight when Ogier partner, Advocate Marcus Leese, speaks at STEP Geneva in November.

Private client specialist Marcus – who is admitted in both the BVI and Guernsey – will speak on "The Regulation of Trustees: a comparison with Guernsey and the BVI".

He will co-present with Dr Rashid Bahar, partner of Swiss law firm Bär & Karrer, who will discuss the proposed regulation of trustees in Switzerland.

Marcus will explore the respective well-established regulatory regimes in Guernsey and the BVI, and provide a basis against which to compare the Swiss proposals.

Marcus said: "STEP is widely recognised as the pre-eminent international professional body for private client professionals and I'm looking forward to presenting at STEP Geneva at a time when so much is changing for private clients and the trustees and advisors who assist them."

Based in Ogier's Guernsey office, Marcus has a particular focus on private clients, trustees, foundations, wills and estates for high net worth entrepreneurial clients and their businesses. He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

The STEP Geneva technical event is being held at the Swissotel Metropole in Geneva on 6 November at 5:30 pm.
