Alan Stirling is part of Ogier's multi-disciplinary Private Equity team. He specialises in:
- acquisitions and disposals of real estate by private equity real estate funds;
- the establishment, structuring and regulation of corporate acquisition stack structures;
- investment and shareholder agreements, bespoke articles of association and completion mechanics, including dealing with management interests (roll ups) and equity funding; and
- advising financial institutions and private equity sponsors on leveraged buyout and acquisition financing transactions,
with experience in the exit of investments through IPOs on all international stock exchanges, including LSE, NYSE, NASDAQ, Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Euronext.
His achievements include working on the £820m (US$1.1bn) acquisition of Alexander Mann Solutions, one of the world’s leading providers of talent acquisition and management services, by the private equity arm of OMERS.
Alan is also part of Ogier's multi-disciplinary Restructuring & Corporate Recovery team. He specialises in refinancing, corporate restructuring and reorganisation and policies and best practice with experience in investor and shareholder rights/actions. His experience includes advising on Jersey directors' duties in connection with an insolvent UK healthcare group.
Alan qualified as a Scottish solicitor in 2009. He joined Ogier in 2010 and also advises on a range of corporate and finance transactions.
Before joining Ogier, Alan trained with Semple Fraser in Glasgow and gained in-house experience with compliance firm EmiratesOne in Dubai where he worked on corporate and regulatory matters.
Alan received a Scots Law LLB (Hons) from University of Glasgow in 2006 and was awarded his postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at Glasgow Graduate School of Law in 2007.
