Overview

Charlotte is a senior associate in Ogier Guernsey's Corporate law team. She advises on a broad range of corporate and commercial, regulatory and investment fund matters and is a part of Ogier's multi-disciplinary Private Equity team. She specialises in fund formation and capital raising (including in relation to co-investment vehicles, parallel funds and management and advisory vehicles) and advising with respect to ongoing fund operation, regulatory compliance and downstream corporate advisory matters, including with respect to acquisitions and disposals. Charlotte focused with a number of clients on the introduction of Guernsey's revised data protection law and, more recently, compliance with economic substance legislation introduced in Guernsey. She also advises on legal and regulatory aspects relating to private wealth structures, including Guernsey trusts and partnerships.

  • Background & experience

    Charlotte graduated with a First Class LLB (Hons) in European Law from the university of Leicester in 2011, having spent a year of her degree studying French law in Paris. Having first joined Ogier as a Bursary Student over the course of her degree, Charlotte returned to Ogier in 2014 as a trainee solicitor and was admitted as a solicitor of England and Wales in June 2016. She is a member of the Guernsey International Legal Association and Womens Business Network.

    Charlotte is a member of Ogier's multi-disciplinary Private Equity team. She specialises in fund formation and capital raising (including in relation to co-investment vehicles, parallel funds and management and advisory vehicles) and advising with respect to ongoing fund operation, regulatory compliance and downstream corporate advisory matters, including with respect to acquisitions and disposals. Her achievements as a member of this team in the last 12 months include:

    • advising one of Ogier Guernsey's longest-standing clients, a leading buyout investor with over €5 billion raised and managed since inception, on the establishment and regulation of their fifth investment fund as a closed-ended authorised collective investment scheme, together with providing advice in respect of the related carry and parallel vehicles
    • advising in respect of the respect of the launch of, and providing ongoing advice to Hipgnosis Songs Fund Limited, a Guernsey registered collective investment scheme which raised over £200 million in its initial, oversubscribed fundraising and is the only London Stock Exchange-listed fund that offers investors exposure to music IP rights
