Greg is an associate at Ogier, based in the Cayman Islands Dispute Resolution team. He is a qualified Scottish solicitor with a broad range of experience in complex high-value litigation focusing on trusts and insolvency and restructuring disputes, often with multi-jurisdictional considerations.
Background and experience
Prior to moving to the Cayman Islands, Greg trained and practiced as a commercial litigator at a leading Scottish law firm in both Glasgow and Edinburgh, where he appeared in Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland and acted in a wide range of commercial disputes regarding property, construction, commercial debt recovery and banking matters.
Greg was then an associate and senior associate for a leading offshore law firm in Guernsey in the Channel Islands for more than three years, where he acted on behalf of fiduciaries and office holders in a broad range of offshore trust and insolvency disputes. During this time, he also acted for beneficiaries and office holders in a broad range of trust disputes.
Greg's recent cases include:
- Acting on behalf of beneficiaries as parties to a complex multi-billion dollar trustee and protector removal application
- Acting on behalf of trustees with conduct over potentially tainted assets
- Acting on behalf of joint liquidators of a holding company with global assets held in a complex corporate structure.
- Defending claims by investors of an insolvent fund on behalf of its administrator
- Advising and representing a trustee accused of holding assets in a sham trust
Providing regulatory advice to an entity accused of failing to satisfy economic substance requirements in Guernsey.
