Harry is a managing associate in Ogier's Cayman Dispute Resolution team. He has particular expertise in insolvency and restructuring matters, commercial disputes, and section 238 appraisal actions. He has advised on some of the most significant appraisal actions to come before the Cayman Courts, including through to trial.
  • Background & experience

    Harry joined Ogier in 2022, having spent a number of years at another top-tier offshore firm in the Cayman Islands. He has significant experience of contentious and non-contentious cross-border restructuring and insolvency matters, and regularly advises stakeholders and insolvency practitioners in the context of such proceedings.

    Harry is also experienced in advising dissenting shareholders in s.238 fair value appraisals, from the inception of proceedings through to trial.

    Recently, including prior to joining Ogier, Harry has advised and assisted;

    • the largest group of dissenting shareholders in section 238 appraisal proceedings arising out of the US$8.7 billion privatisation of China's largest online classifieds marketplace, 58.com
    • the largest body of dissenting shareholders in the Nord Anglia section 238 fair value appraisal through to trial, securing a judgment in excess of US$130 million
    • the dissenting shareholder group in the recent FGL Holdings section 238 fair value appraisal through to trial
    • the founder, chairman and majority shareholder of NYSE-listed Fang Holdings Limited, one of the largest real estate internet trading platforms in China, in resisting a just and equitable winding up petition and associated actions for the appointment of provisional liquidators
    • the publicly-listed Endeavour Mining Group (current market cap c.US$5.1 billion) in respect of its successful cross-border re-domiciliation scheme of arrangement
    • the Tailored Brands Group in respect of Cayman-law matters concerning the Group's widely-reported US Chapter 11 restructuring, including recognition of the restructuring plan

    Before coming to the Cayman Islands, Harry worked for several years in the UK as part of the commercial litigation team at Eversheds Sutherland. While there his practice comprised a range of complex and high-profile work, including public and commercial inquiries.

    Harry received a first class LLB Law degree (with honours) from the University of Lancaster, and a Distinction from the University of Law
