Piers joined Ogier in 2013 and became Partner in 2017. Prior to joining Ogier, he worked for a number of years as a solicitor with Slaughter and May in London and Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in London and Moscow. He is a member of the Investment Funds Team and a member of the Corporate & Commercial team.
He is also a founder member of our Digital, Blockchain and Fintech Team with a particular expertise in ICOs and traditional and tokenised crypto-currency funds
Piers specialises in the establishment, operation, restructuring and regulation of both open-ended and private equity funds (whether established as exempted limited companies, exempted limited partnerships or unit trusts). Recent matters include advising on the Cayman law issues arising from a global restructuring for a high-profile investment manager, undertaking a restructuring of a series of Japanese unit trusts and advising on liquidity management issues.
He is also currently advising on the first Blockchain administered segregated portfolio fund structure.
Piers advises a range of investment managers, intermediaries and financial institutions as well as investors, trustees, family offices, HNWIs, administrators and other service providers on fund related issues and other corporate matters, including downstream investment transactions.
Corporate & Commercial
Piers advises on corporate matters, including public and private mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, joint ventures, shareholder matters and rights issues, advising boards of directors, prospective investors and shareholders on a range of corporate matters. Recent matters include advising on a number of Series A Financings, advising on the acquisition and financing for a number of local media companies (including coordinating with regulatory authorities) and various joint ventures.
