Michael has a broad range of experience from over ten years in various areas of banking and finance work, regularly acting for a wide range of international financial institutions and borrowers on complex multi-jurisdictional finance, corporate, regulatory and restructuring transactions with particular expertise in acquisition finance, private equity restructuring and insolvency, Islamic finance and regulatory advice.
Before joining Ogier in 2015, Michael trained in the London and Dubai offices of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, qualifying into their banking team in London in 2007. Michael has also worked as a senior associate in the banking team in the Dubai office of Clifford Chance LLP and in the Dublin office of a large offshore firm. Michael has also completed a number of secondments during his career, to the fund linked derivatives team at Credit Suisse in London, the leveraged finance team at Standard Chartered Bank in Dubai, a large sovereign wealth fund based in Bahrain and The Commercial Bank of Qatar in Doha.
Michael obtained his Master of Arts from Magdalene College, Cambridge in 2002, his Graduate Diploma in Law from Nottingham Law School in 2003 and Diploma in Legal Practice from Oxford Institute of Legal Practice in 2004.
Michael is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales and the Law Society of Ireland.
