Ogier’s Investment Funds team in Guernsey has acted for 1818 Fund Management Limited on the establishment of its inaugural venture capital vehicle, 1818 VC Fund I LP.

1818 Fund Management Limited (1818) is a new and innovative Guernsey based venture capital manager focused on backing early and growth stage digital technology businesses. The firm partners with next generation fintech and digital solutions founders seeking to reshape financial services across the UK and internationally. By positioning itself at the intersection of technology, financial innovation, and responsible capital deployment, 1818 aims to accelerate the adoption of digital platforms serving end users in an evolving regulatory and technological landscape.

Ogier advised on all legal and regulatory aspects of the fund’s initial launch as a registered closed ended collective investment scheme, as well as its subsequent strategic restructuring to become a qualifying private investment scheme. This end to end mandate reflects Guernsey’s flexibility as a jurisdiction for emerging managers and innovative fund structures, and Ogier’s leading position supporting new entrants to the market.

Working alongside HFL Limited as the designated administrator, Ogier supported the creation of a robust and scalable operational framework suitable for 1818’s long term growth ambitions. The Ogier team was led by partner Bryon Rees, with support from counsel Liam Murphy and senior associate Gabrielle Payne.

Bryon Rees said: “We are delighted to have supported 1818 throughout the establishment of its fund and broader presence in Guernsey. It is particularly encouraging to see a new manager committing to the jurisdiction not only by selecting Guernsey as its fund domicile, but also by establishing a physical presence on the island. We look forward to seeing 1818’s continued progress and wish the team every success. With the launch of 1818 VC Fund I LP, Guernsey continues to reinforce its reputation as a jurisdiction of choice for venture capital managers seeking efficient structuring, regulatory clarity, and a deep pool of specialist advisers."
