Private Wealth and Jersey Private Funds

The trustees, fiduciaries, settlors and beneficiaries of private wealth structures are invariably keen to explore new or alternative investment opportunities. A smaller scale collective investment approach involving one or more private wealth vehicles is becoming more common. We have significant experience advising on the applicability of the Jersey Private Funds regime to private wealth structures.  

A Jersey Private Fund is a private investment fund which involves the pooling of capital raised for the fund from 50 or fewer investors, which operates on the principle of risk spreading. It can take a number of forms, including companies, unit trusts and limited partnerships.

If it is appropriate in the circumstances, structures can be established for the purpose of enabling a pooled investment via a family trust, which pools its assets with a small select group of other parties, including another family trust, for example.

We can provide advice in relation to the establishment and ongoing operation of Jersey Private Funds in a private wealth context, or indeed an analysis of the participants in the structure to determine whether the structure would benefit from certain exemptions.
