2-REG changes allow commercial air transport registration

News

03 March 2016

Guernsey

Recent changes at Guernsey Aircraft Registry 2-REG now allow the registration of aircraft used for the purpose of commercial air transport.

The Guernsey Registry has seen a significant rise in the number of aircraft registered in Guernsey in recent months and it is hoped that the removal of the restriction in respect of commercial air transport will result in a continued increase in the number of aircraft registered at the Guernsey Registry.

The Aviation Registry (Guernsey) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2016, repeals the provision in the Aviation Registry Law, 2013 that prohibited Guernsey registered aircraft from being used for the purpose of commercial air transport.

Further to this amendment, the Air Navigation (Bailiwick of Guernsey) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2016 amends the Air Navigation (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2012 to provide for the issue of air operator’s certificates. Air operator’s certificates are required under international law for aircraft used for the purposes of commercial air transport. Both these changes will come into force on 8 March 2016.
