Two graduates of Ogier's bespoke training pathways have been promoted to become associates in the firm's top tier teams.
Danielle Newton joins the Corporate team and Dylan Cox joins the Banking and Finance team. Both graduates are based in the Jersey office.
Danielle's qualification and subsequent promotion through Ogier's tailored trainee solicitor programme comes as the scheme celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
Ogier has now been training England and Wales solicitors for two decades, with the scheme's success evidenced by the fact that former Ogier trainee solicitors operate at every level of the firm, from associate through to partner. The English Solicitor training programme offers trainees hands-on experience in up to four seats within the firm, including time in litigation.
Danielle first joined Ogier Global, Ogier's corporate administration team, as a senior administrator in 2019 and transitioned to the law firm as a paralegal before starting the trainee solicitor programme.
She said: "I've loved participating in the training contract. While joining a new team every six months can initially be daunting, everyone has been so friendly, and the supervisors are so enthusiastic about their roles. I have developed lasting resources that will help me in my future career."
Dylan's promotion meanwhile showcases the firm's number and variety of training pathways.
He qualified through the Paralegal Pathway, which enables Ogier paralegals to undertake their SQE exams and Qualifying Work Experience within a particular team.
Since joining the firm as a paralegal in 2024, he has already worked on a full range of financing transactions including fund finance, structured finance, asset financing and restructuring and insolvency – all while studying towards his exams.
Training Principal partner Richard Daggett said: "Ogier became one of the first Channel Islands firms to invest in a training scheme regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. For two decades, our programme has been shaping futures and bringing talent into our dynamic firm. The stream of high quality associates that we continue to welcome into our teams is a real testament to the scheme's ongoing success.
"We offer cutting edge technology, flexibility and a culture where every voice matters, allowing young lawyers like Danielle and Dylan to fulfil their potential in a supportive environment. An Ogier training contract is a great way to start a legal career and many partners, including myself, started here as trainees. Congratulations to Danielle on this fantastic milestone in her career as we celebrate a milestone 20 years of the scheme.
"Congratulations also to Dylan, whose qualification reinforces Ogier's commitment to flexibility and finding a route that works best for an individual's particular circumstances."
