Ogier is backing the kidsCARE Education Program with an $8,000 USD donation to cover the design, printing and publication of the PetZone magazine, which teaches Cayman children about care and compassion for pets.

The 100% volunteer-run program operating under the umbrella of Cayman Islands animal welfare charity Cayman Animal Welfare Enthusiasts (CARE), visits Cayman schools class by class, offering up an introduction to pets and pet care, tips on how to interact with animals, and introducing the “5 Freedoms” of animal welfare.

The kidsCARE program was founded by a member of Ogier's Cayman team, Kiralee Harnett, to teach youngsters about animal care and pet responsibility. The program takes an interactive approach and aims to teach students empathy for other beings and care for their environment, qualities which play an essential role in raising aware, kind and compassionate citizens.

The firm is donating the money as part of a new group-wide CSR strategy that offers donations and paid days off for staff who want to volunteer to help charities linked with the theme of education across its six offices in the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.

The donation will enable the PetZone magazine – which features information about stray animals, free spay and neuter programmes, wild Caymanian animals, pet care, animal cruelty and pet overpopulation - to be produced and distributed to local primary schools every quarter.

The publication allows student to directly engage with information on pet care and empowers them to play a role in making a positive difference in their communities.

Ogier partner Rachael Reynolds said: "This is a project that is already delivering results across our community, but we want to help them sustain the education effort so that the message hits home for the next generation of Caymanians.

Over the course of the year, members of our team will also be spending time attending kidsCARE events, volunteering in classrooms and assisting in pet wellness clinics and building feral cat feeding stations and community dog houses.

It's great to have this chance to support our local community, particularly when the charity was co-founded by one of our Cayman team."

CARE was set up in 2008 as a registered Cayman charitable company and in engaged in regular public education programs.
