Luxembourg plays a central role in connecting Asian asset managers, sponsors and investors with international capital and investment opportunities. As fundraising and investment strategies become increasingly cross-border, Ogier is continuing to strengthen its Luxembourg capability in Asia to help clients make those connections work.
As part of this continued commitment, Luxembourg funds specialist Aline Sun has joined Ogier’s team in Hong Kong as a legal manager. She will work alongside partner Hervé Leclercq, who leads the firm’s Luxembourg funds offering in Asia.
"Luxembourg is an important connecting point for capital moving between Asia and international markets. Aline's arrival adds further depth to our Luxembourg funds capability in the region and enhances our ability to support clients in the language and market in which they operate," said Hervé Leclercq.
"Her combination of Luxembourg funds expertise, experience across both private practice and in-house roles, and native Mandarin language skills makes her a valuable addition to the team."
Based in Hong Kong, Aline advises on the structuring, formation and ongoing operation of funds, with particular experience in private equity, private debt and other alternative investment strategies.
Aline brings experience from both private practice and in-house roles. Before joining Ogier, she was an associate in the Hong Kong office of another Luxembourg law firm, advising Asian and European sponsors and investment managers on the establishment and structuring of investment vehicles. She also previously served as in-house legal counsel for a Hong Kong asset manager focused on private equity and private debt strategies.
Aline's ability to advise clients in Mandarin, French and English is a significant addition to Ogier's heavyweight funds practice in the region, helping to connect Asian clients and capital with Luxembourg and the wider international investment market.
Nicholas Plowman, Head of Investment Funds in Asia, said: " Our Asian managers increasingly need local legal advisers who can bring together the relevant people, market knowledge and legal expertise in their own time-zone. Aline's appointment as a specialist Luxembourg funds lawyer based in Hong Kong is another example of Ogier's commitment and continued investment in the Asian market."
Ogier has supported the Asia-Pacific investment funds market for more than 20 years and advises many of the region’s leading investment managers through its network across Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo.
The team is now the largest offshore funds practice in Hong Kong and advises across the full range of fund products and investment strategies, acting as lead counsel and working alongside law firms across Asia and the United States on cross-border matters.
