A new exhibition illustrates the dedication and personal growth of participants in the Ogier-sponsored 12-week Creative Waves Arts Rehabilitation programme at His Majesty's Prison Balsam Ghut in the British Virgin Islands.
Held at Creative Waves' Arts Hub, the programme provided participants with opportunities to develop artistic skills including drawing, painting, sketching, modelling and mixed-media through workshops led by art teacher Caroline Sorrentino. Their work can be seen at Creative Waves' new exhibition showcase.
Sophie Stanton, founder and director of Creative Waves, said: "This course was never about creating professional artists. It was about creating opportunities - opportunities to learn something new, to challenge yourself, to express ideas creatively and to discover abilities you may not have known you had."
Michael Killourhy, partner at Ogier, who attended the launch event, said: "It has been a privilege to see the outcomes of the Creative Waves Arts Rehabilitation Course and the remarkable artwork produced over the past 12 weeks. The exhibition highlights not only creativity and talent, but also the confidence, skills and sense of achievement developed throughout the programme.
"As the inaugural sponsor, Ogier is delighted to have supported an initiative that creates positive opportunities for individuals while strengthening our wider community. We extend our sincere thanks to Sophie, the course tutor Caroline and everyone involved in making the programme such a success, plus congratulate all participants on what they have achieved."
The exhibition remains open to the public at the Creative Waves Arts Hub until the end of July.
