Despina Souroviki

Despina is a finance lawyer specialising in fund finance, real estate finance, leveraged finance, structured finance and banking regulation.

Background and experience

In fund finance transactions, Despina's expertise covers subscription line, NAV, management and hybrid facilities. She represents both borrowers and lenders across all transaction aspects including negotiating facility agreements and structuring security packages. 

Also familiar with securitisations structures, Despina has experience in advising clients on the features of Luxembourg securitisation vehicles. She has set up such vehicles and negotiated all financing documentation through to transaction completion. Her further experience includes real estate and leveraged finance transactions. 

Despina's clients include some of the largest market players - credit institutions, investment funds, asset managers - on both lender and borrower sides.

Before joining Ogier, she was a finance associate at two Luxembourg offices of international law firms with strong finance practices. Prior to that, she was a legal analyst at the supervisory law division of the European Central Bank where she worked on matters of banking supervision and regulation within the context of the single supervisory mechanism (e.g. own funds, credit institution authorisations, banking license withdrawals, passporting and more). 

Despina started her career as a banking and litigation associate at a law firm in Greece. She was admitted to the Greek Bar in 2019 and has been a member of the Luxembourg Bar (List IV) since 2022.

She holds a Master of Laws in International Financial Law (pass with distinction) from King's College London. Her mother tongue is Greek and she is fluent in English, Spanish and French, with a good command of German and an elementary knowledge of Arabic.
