Gurminder Sanghera

Gurminder is a Partner in Ogier’s Banking and Finance team, based in Dubai. He regularly advises on complex Cayman Islands and BVI structures involving Middle East and international market participants. 

Gurminder advises global financial institutions, fund managers, family offices and aircraft lessors on the laws of the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands (BVI), covering all aspects of sukuk and conventional bond issuances, Islamic-compliant investment platforms, banking and aircraft finance transactions. He also has a broad understanding of Cayman Islands and BVI corporate and investment fund matters.

Gurminder is recognised by Chambers Global for his offshore finance practice in the UAE, where clients also praise his commercial awareness, responsiveness and ability to deliver innovative solutions on sophisticated matters. Clients also describe him as “a great person to work with” who “adapts to clients’ needs very well” and can “always be relied upon” to execute transactions effectively.

Before joining Ogier, Gurminder was a partner at a leading offshore law firm in the Middle East and previously worked in the Global Finance team of a major US law firm in London.

He has contributed to industry publications on Islamic finance and aviation finance matters, including articles relating to the use of Cayman Islands SPVs in Shariah-compliant aircraft financing.

Gurminder holds an LLB (First Class Honours) from King’s College London and is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales (non-practising). He is also a fluent Punjabi speaker.
