Ryan is a managing associate in Ogier's Investment Funds team and he is based in the Cayman Islands office. He specialises in advising a broad range of clients on the establishment and ongoing operation of hedge funds, private equity funds and other alternative investment funds.
Background and experience
As well as specialising in hedge funds, private equity and other alternative investment funds Ryan also advises on regulatory, corporate governance and corporate matters.
Prior to joining Ogier, Ryan practiced in the funds and investment team of another leading offshore law firm in the Cayman Islands. Before moving to the Cayman Islands, he worked at Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP and Stikeman Elliott LLP in Toronto as a tax lawyer focusing on private equity, hedge funds, retail mutual funds, tax-exempt investors, corporate reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions, public debt and equity offerings and cross-border debt financing transactions.
Ryan received his Bachelor of Commerce (with Great Distinction) from McGill University (Quebec, Canada) and Juris Doctor (with Distinction) from the University of Western Ontario (Ontario, Canada).
