Ogier's LatAm team advises lenders on US$800 million loan facility to Banco do Brasil

Ogier has acted as Cayman Islands counsel to a syndicate of lenders, including JPMorgan, HSBC, CACIB and Standard Chartered, on a US$800 million loan facility to Banco do Brasil, guaranteed by the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). JPMorgan acted as MIGA coordinator in this loan facility. 

The proceeds from the loan facility will be used to support micro, small and medium enterprises in Brazil’s farming sector, in particular, those engaged in the country’s no-till agribusiness industry, which minimises soil erosion and reduces carbon dioxide emissions.

The Ogier team was led by partner James Heinicke, with support from senior associate Jasjit Grewal. JPMorgan’s deal team was led by Rodrigo Carmo and Joan Tapia, with assistance from Ana Katayama, Junior Diaz, and in-house legal team, Yoshinari Ikiri.
