Banking and finance expert Jennifer Cox and private wealth specialist Richard Laignel have been promoted to group partner and partner, respectively.

Both lawyers, who are based on Jersey, have progressed through Ogier's partner development programme and are recognised as key lawyers by Legal 500 UK, 2025.

“Jennifer’s contribution to our top-tier Banking and Finance team is highly regarded by both clients and colleagues and Richard’s expertise in private wealth further strengthens one of our core service offerings in Jersey. These promotions reflect the exceptional commitment of both lawyers to client service. They are also a testament to their stand-out expertise in their specialist areas," said Jersey practice partner Raulin Amy.

Jennifer specialises in cross-border, real estate finance and fund finance transactions and also advises in relation to non-contentious restructuring, corporate recovery and security enforcement.

She has significant experience in the acquisition and disposal of Jersey property unit trusts and other Jersey real estate holding structures.

Recent high profile examples of Jennifer's work include advising Lloyds Bank on a £65 million refinancing of prime office space in Jersey, acting for AEW in relation to the £22 million acquisition of a Jersey property unit trust that owns 95 New Cavendish Street in London, and advising The Jersey Homes Trust, the largest independent housing association in Jersey, on a £60 million refinancing transaction with M&G Investments, a leading savings and investment company in the UK.

As part of Ogier's Private Wealth team in Jersey, Richard advises professional trustees, family offices, intermediaries and high-net worth families, together with their onshore advisers in the UK, Switzerland and elsewhere.

Richard's client base spans various jurisdictions and he offers advice on all aspects of Jersey trusts, foundations, and estate planning, including philanthropic structuring through trusts, foundations, private trust companies, and other corporate vehicles, as well as related company and commercial law matters.

Richard also advises alongside Ogier's Investment Funds team on the establishment of private wealth structures and he assists trustees, employers and other professionals on a wide range of Jersey employee benefit and pension related matters.

As a member of Ogier's Trusts Advisory Group, Richard regularly collaborates with his Dispute Resolution colleagues on both contentious and semi-contentious issues.
