Ogier expands its AI-enabled legal service offering with the adoption of Harvey

International and offshore law firm Ogier has announced the firmwide deployment of Harvey, the leading AI platform for legal and professional services, marking another milestone in its technology and innovation strategy.

Following a successful firmwide pilot across the firm's 13 international offices, this deployment is the latest step in Ogier's long-term investment in digital transformation to enhance client service and empower its people.

By integrating Harvey into its legal operations, Ogier has equipped its 500-strong legal team with advanced AI capabilities that help streamline time-intensive tasks such as document analysis, legal research, drafting and knowledge retrieval. The technology enables lawyers to spend more time applying their expertise, judgement and commercial insight to complex client matters.

Ogier has implemented Harvey within its existing robust governance framework that ensures compliance with professional and regulatory obligations. Data protection, confidentiality and information security have been central considerations throughout the evaluation and deployment process.

Ogier's Global Managing Partner, Edward Mackereth, said the adoption of Harvey forms part of Ogier's broader investment in innovation and responsible AI, ensuring the firm remains at the forefront of the evolving legal services landscape.

"Clients increasingly expect their advisers to combine exceptional legal expertise with the intelligent application of technology," he said. "Our investment in Harvey is part of a long-term strategy to build the next generation of legal services. We started trialling and integrating AI into our workflows in 2023. This deployment reflects our commitment to innovation and to investing in technologies that deliver tangible benefits for our clients."

Ogier's Director of Service Innovation Doug Mackenzie added: "We use technology in ways that enhance the service we provide to clients while empowering our people to perform at their best.

"Harvey has shown significant potential to improve the way we work by streamlining routine tasks, increasing access to knowledge and enabling our lawyers to focus more of their time on complex problem-solving and strategic advice. Importantly, AI does not replace legal expertise or professional judgement."

Harvey supports cross-border complexity within Ogier's work, which spans corporate and finance transactions, investment funds, dispute resolution, private wealth and regulatory matters.

Peter Reeve, UK Country Leader for Harvey, said: "Offshore practice is a genuine test of a legal AI platform: multiple jurisdictions, specialised corporate, funds and disputes work, and no tolerance for approximation. Seeing Ogier take this to every one of its lawyers is a strong signal of how seriously the offshore market is now approaching this technology."
